Beginning...

The 23rd of October 1985 (Vijayadesami day) marked the fulfillment of a long cherished dream of the people of Kollam and a beginning was made in starting a Nursery School by the Chinmaya Mission. The Mahila Samajam had graciously allowed some space, for conducting nursery classes and continued there till 1988. In 1988 the school was shifted to a bigger building in Manayilkulangara and classes up to std VII were functioning there.

In the year 1996, the Regional Trust purchased a land of 3 acres at Kuzhiyam South, Chandanathope for The Chinmaya Vidyalaya. A shed was constructed and classes commenced in it. The school that was functioning in Mnayilkulangara was again shifted to the Mahila Samajam building in the year 1998. In the year 2000 the school that was functioning in the Mahila Samajam building (up to Std IV) completely stopped functioning and (it was merged with) the new school that started in Chandanathope.

Sri.K. Ravindranathan Nair, President of the Chinmaya Mission and Vidyalaya, Kollam was magnanimous enough to take the initiative for the construction of a permanent school building. His sincere patronage led to the completion of a new building in the year 2001.

The first batch of S.S.L.C students appeared for the examination in March 2001 and came out in flying colors. In the academic year 2001-2002, the school participated in the Republic Day Celebrations held in by Fine Arts Society and Panchayats, the school bagged first for the ‘BEST BHARAT NATA’ and also bagged the second prize for the ‘BEST SCHOOL’ in the U P Section.

The Vidyalaya is situated in Kuzhiyam South, Chandanathope in about three acres of land. With compound wall on all the four sides, stands the beautiful building of the Vidyalaya with its architectural beauty. There is an Ashram in the campus for the Acharys. There is a Vinayakam temple too.

The School is affiliated with CBSE for classes up to XII.
